Fraxel Laser Skin Resurfacing

Fraxel Laser Skin Resurfacing

What it is:

Think of your skin as a digital photo that is delicately touched up one spot at a time. Fraxel treatment, likewise, affects a fraction of tissue at a time with thousands of microscopic laser columns—each just one-tenth the diameter of a hair follicle. Then your body takes care of the rest. The laser columns stimulate a natural healing process that works from the inside out, replacing damaged tissue with younger, smoother, healthier skin.

What it does:

In short, Fraxel treatment creates smoother, fresher, healthier and younger-looking skin…improved tone, texture and pore size…and the softening of wrinkles and lines. It’s amazing for:

  • Skin resurfacing
  • Fine lines around the eyes
  • Pigmented lesions (age/sun spots)
  • Discoloration and uneven pigmentation
  • Melasma (mask of pregnancy)
  • Acne scars
  • Surgical scars
  • Actinic Keratosis

How it works:

Under the epidermis is a network of collagen and elastin, which are proteins that keep your skin youthful and tight. But as you age and get more sun exposure, those proteins simply break down faster than your body can rebuild them. As a result, your skin may start to sag and show damage like wrinkles, lines or spots. This is where Fraxel laser treatment can help.

Microscopic laser columns penetrate deep into the dermis to create tiny wounds, which trigger your body’s natural response system to heal those wounds.

This process expedites your body’s remodeling of collagen and elastin, which results in tighter, fresher, more youthful-looking skin. This is how Fraxel treatment creates new skin from the inside out. Just as important are the areas of skin that Fraxel treatment doesn’t touch. Because the treatment is so precise, the laser columns target only a fraction of skin at a time, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. This “fractional” treatment allows your body to heal the skin faster than if the entire area were treated at once.

What to expect:

Fraxel treatment delivers remarkable results with minimal downtime. That means you can rejuvenate your skin in just a few hours and quickly return to your life—the amount of downtime depends on your skin condition, your lymphatic system and the strength of Fraxel the Doctor delivers to your skin.

There are 3 steps in the treatments.

  1. Visia skin analysis photos
  2. Numbing cream is applied to the area for aprox 1 hour. During this time, a lot of clients take advantage of some extra relaxation time and have a manicure or pedicure, while some just sit back and enjoy some time out.
  3. The Fraxel treatments itself takes 20 to 25 minutes for a full face.

Most people return to work and routine activities within a few days, but the recovery time will vary depending on your skin and treatment level. Most men and women experience immediate results with improvements continuing for months after the treatment.

For deep acne scarring and lines, you will receive the best longterm benefits from several treatments. Your Cosmetic Physician will be able to advise how many treatments your concern may need for full improvement.

Fraxel-Laser-Skin_2This is Kate, a 64 year oldFraxel client who wanted to reduce the appearance of the age spots that she said make her look and feel older. Kate wrote a step-by-step account of her treatment, including the post-treatment results, how she felt during and after the treatment, and her feelings about her results. It’s a great read – you can find the eBook here.

In short, she said – “I’m very happy! Happy to have no more age spots, happy with the new smooth feeling and the look of fresh skin!”
