What is it?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive way to treat skin damage with minimal down time. It dramatically improves the appearance of broken capillaries (including rosacea), redness, age spots, sun-induced freckles, and pigmentation, and can be incredibly effective in the treatment of acne. IPL has amazing results on the face, neck, decolletage, hands – and all over the body!
*SALON SECRET* IPL Photorejuvenation is our most requested treatment – ever!
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, age spots, sun-induced freckles, the signs of photo-ageing, pigmentation, unsightly small veins, and other blemishes. Our Paramedical Therapists will assess your skin to provide a tailored solution to suit your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results.
How does it work?
IPL uses light to absorb melanin (the dark pigment in your hair and skin) and haemoglobin (the red colour in your blood vessels). The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood, when treating vascular lesions, or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions damaging them. The body’s natural processes then remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.

What to expect:
Your treatment will start with your Therapist talking to you about your skin concerns, and performing a skin analysis. We offer a complimentary Visia Skin Analysis session with any IPL Photorejuveation process, when requested prior.
To start, a cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you will be given dark glasses or laser eye shields to protect your eyes. The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece (with an inbuilt chiller to help cool the surface of your skin) is gently rested on your skin and you will be notified by your Therapist when the pulses of light are applied. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band which can be painful, but only lasts a fraction of a second. The treatment is relatively quick in time to perform and for a full face may only take approx. 20 minutes.
The appearance right after treatment is similar to what you will see after a good exercise workout. The flushing and redness will last from a few minutes to several hours after the treatment. If your skin is quite loose you may experience some swelling. If you have any brown spots or uneven pigmentation, they will turn slightly darker after your treatment and eventually fall away or shed after a week or so.
*SALON SECRET * To speed up the healing time and reduce redness and swelling, we highly recommend booking an Omnilux LED Light Therapy treatment post-IPL – you can add this onto your treatment for just $60.
Visuals really are the best way to show the incredible results of IPL.
Michael (right) came to us concerned with broken capillaries causing redness on his skin, as well as wanting to generally refresh. After two sessions on his cheeks and nose, the results look great! He now maintains his results by having a session once every six months.
Karla (right) was concerned with pigmentation on her face, particularly a large amount of sun-induced freckles. After just one session, the results are clear – she’s happy and so are we!
Cannot be performed on clients containing a heavy amount of colouration in the skin due to uv exposure, false tan or clients who may be on particular sun-sensitising drugs. Your therapist will do a full consultation prior to your treatment to assure you are a good candidate for IPL.
